Dr. Kimberly Alfano
DMD at Verber Family Dentistry
Dr. Kimberly Alfano grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from North Allegheny High School in 2003. She then attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2007. While in undergrad, she started her experience in the dental field by working as a part-time dental assistant. Dr. Alfano was very active in Pitt’s pre-dental club and also participated in oral cancer research throughout her undergraduate years.
Dr. Alfano continued her education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2011. While in dental school, she acted as the Vice President of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA). She enjoyed community involvement while participating in annual Give Kids a Smile Day as well as organizing Oral Cancer Walks to help raise awareness. But some of her most memorable moments of dental school took place during two dental mission trips to Mavis Bank, Jamaica. Dental school also holds a special place in her heart because that is where she met her husband Peter (now a local oral surgeon). Dr. Alfano completed a General Practice Residency after dental school at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. She then moved with her husband to New York City and practiced in Manhattan for three years.
Dr. Alfano enjoys interacting with patients of all ages and is happy to help put patients at ease while being at the dentist. She holds a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and implant restoration. She also takes a personal interest in oral cancer and early detection of the disease. She loves being a part of a team that is involved in the community through volunteer efforts such as Mom-n-PA, which offers free dental care.
In her spare time, Dr. Alfano loves to cook, travel and exercise. She also has enjoyed attending Pitt basketball games as well as Steelers games. The thing she loves most, though, is spending time with family. She prides herself on being a mom and revels in quality time with her husband and three sons Maximo, Dominic, and Franco.
